Couples Boudoir: It's Probably Not What You're Thinking
When people hear the words "couples boudoir," their minds immediately go somewhere between a romance novel and an HBO special. I can practically see the questions forming. What exactly happens during a couples session? Is it awkward? How naked are we talking? Am I supposed to know how to be sexy in front of a camera?
Let's clear a few things up.
First and foremost, nobody is expected to know what they're doing. That's my job. Every pose, every hand placement, every kiss, and every little movement is guided by me. You don't need modeling experience. You don't need to practice in the mirror. You don't need to spend the week before your session watching romantic movies for inspiration. You simply show up, and I'll take care of the rest.

Now let's address the elephant in the room. The most undressed the men get is their underwear. That's it. No pressure to bare it all. No awkward stripping. No Magic Mike moment unless that's how he normally walks around the house. Most of the session is spent in jeans, dress pants, a button-down shirt, or a simple t-shirt, depending on the look we're creating.
And despite what people imagine, there is nothing sexual happening during the session. Everything is simulated and fully posed. A kiss. A cuddle. A hand on a hip. A booty grab. Maybe a strategically placed boob grab. That's about as wild as things get.
The focus isn't on creating explicit images. The focus is on creating connection. The way he looks at you when he thinks nobody is watching. The way you melt into him. The laughter that happens when one of you forgets where your hand is supposed to go. The little moments that make your relationship uniquely yours.

The focus of the session is still you. Your confidence. Your beauty. Your connection. Your story. Your partner is there to help create those little moments that make the images feel authentic and connected. Think of him as the world's most handsome accessory. A very supportive accessory. One that occasionally ends up in his underwear.
One of my favorite things about couples sessions is that we don't spend the entire time photographing you together. I also photograph each of you individually. That means you'll walk away with beautiful images of your relationship and gorgeous solo portraits of both partners. It's truly the best of both worlds.
And honestly? Most couples spend the first ten minutes telling me they're awkward. Then twenty minutes later they're laughing, relaxing, and completely forgetting there's a camera in the room. By the end, they're usually saying the same thing all of my clients say: "That was way more fun than I expected."
Because couples boudoir isn't about being sexy. It's about celebrating your connection. It's about documenting this chapter of your story. It's about remembering how it felt to be loved, desired, supported, and seen. And yes, occasionally it involves a strategically placed butt grab. But mostly it's laughter, connection, and me reminding everyone to relax their shoulders.
