Satin Dauls Boudoir · Client Prep Guide

You booked.
Now I’ve got you.

Everything you need to know before your boudoir session—from what to wear and how to prep, to exactly what happens when you walk through the studio doors.

Save this page. You’re going to want to come back to it.

Hello, gorgeous

Your day is officially on the calendar.

I am so excited you’re going to have your very own boudoir session. Women spend so much time taking care of everyone else. For one day, we’re turning that energy all the way back toward you.

Nerves are normal. Truly. You do not have to know how to pose, how to “be sexy,” or what you’re doing when you walk in. I will guide you through every step.

Your session is customized around your comfort level, your style, and how far you want to go. We’ll talk through wardrobe, the looks you love, what you definitely do not love, and what will photograph beautifully on you.

Bring pieces that make you feel confident. If you are unsure what will photograph best, bring a few options and we will make those decisions together once you arrive.

Before your session: be sure to review the pricing menu, choose your collection, and sign your contract within 24 hours.

There is a $2,200 minimum investment. Boudie Bonuses are available with the Livia, Carmela, and Bada Bing Collections. Prepayments are required and are set up through your contract. Third-party financing options are also available.

Step inside the closet

Shopping is optional.

Skip the stress of trying to build an entire boudoir wardrobe on your own. The Satin Dauls client closet is here for you.

The studio has 500+ lingerie and wardrobe pieces ranging from XS–6X, with no additional fee for access. Everything is cleaned and sanitized before and after wear.

Think about the overall mood you’re drawn to—playful, seductive, casual, glam, soft, bold, romantic—and we’ll use that as a starting point for styling.

If you prefer your own pieces, absolutely bring them. I recommend bringing 3–4 options you feel good in and we’ll sort through everything together.

Bringing your own pieces?

Choose what makes you feel like you.

There is no one “correct” boudoir wardrobe. These guidelines simply help us choose pieces that move, fit, and photograph beautifully.

Color

Neutrals feel grounded. Bright shades feel lively. Pale shades read soft. Deep colors and jewel tones can feel bold, rich, and dramatic.

Sheer pieces

Sheer lingerie is welcome. I do not retouch away nipples or visible hair, so bring nipple covers or choose opaque fabric if you’d rather keep those areas covered.

Forget the rules

Let go of what society says you “should” wear. Choose pieces that celebrate the features you love and make you feel beautiful, powerful, or simply comfortable.

Trust me on this one

What not to bring.

Personal is wonderful. But some pieces simply fight the posing, hide your shape, or do not photograph the way people expect them to.

Babydolls

They are cute in real life, but the loose shape tends to photograph boxy. Form-fitting pieces will usually give us much stronger lines and shape.

Traditional Corsets

Boning can shift during posing, leave marks in the skin, and restrict movement. If you love the look, a bustier or structured bodysuit is usually a much better option.

Oversized Men’s Shirts + Jerseys

If you want a jersey or button-down look, choose one that fits your body rather than your partner’s oversized shirt. It will complement your shape instead of swallowing it.

Camo + Costumes

Camo and heavily themed costumes pull attention away from you. Black, white, neutrals, rich earth tones, and jewel tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus where it belongs.

No Weapons

For the safety of clients and staff, firearms and other weapons are not permitted on studio property.

What to expect

You do not have to perform.

Your only job is to show up. Mine is to guide you.

We’ll talk and laugh while you’re in hair and makeup so you can settle in. When it’s time to shoot, I will demonstrate and guide every pose—from your toes right up to your nose.

I’ll show you the back of the camera throughout the shoot so you can actually see what I’m seeing. The nerves usually fade pretty quickly once you realize you are not expected to magically know what to do.

“I didn’t know I could look so beautiful.”

Boudie tips

The little things make a difference.

Nothing here is about changing your body. These are simply practical ways to help you feel comfortable and keep your skin, hair, and body ready for posing and glam.

The Day Before

  • Shave legs and underarms the night before if you shave, to help avoid fresh razor irritation.
  • If you wax, aim for at least 48 hours before your session to give redness time to settle.
  • If you spray tan, use a professional whenever possible so hands, feet, and pores photograph evenly.
  • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session.
  • Stretch. Seriously. Boudoir posing is more of a workout than it looks.
  • Moisturize, but skip heavy oils, shimmer, or glitter products.
  • Freshen up your nails and toes if that makes you feel polished.

The Morning Of

  • Your session begins at 10:00 AM, so plan to arrive on time.
  • Stretch again before heading to the studio.
  • Skip tight socks, underwear, bras, or clothing that may leave deep marks on your skin.
  • Choose clear deodorant instead of white deodorant.
  • Arrive with clean, dry hair and a clean, moisturized face.
  • Bring any personal wardrobe pieces or accessories we discussed.
  • It is completely okay to be nervous. You will be guided through all of it.

Why boudoir?

Because you deserve to see yourself differently.

Women are constantly surrounded by messages telling them how they should look, what they should fix, and who they should become.

Boudoir creates space to turn that noise down. It gives you a chance to celebrate your body instead of criticizing it—to take up space, exist in the frame, and see yourself with intention.

The value of this work lives in the moment a client looks at her photographs and recognizes herself differently: more confident, more certain, more beautiful, more present.

You do not need to become a different version of yourself before your session. The woman walking through the door is already enough to photograph.

Brianne, Satin Dauls Boudoir

You’re ready

Come exactly as you are.

You bring the nerves, the lingerie, and yourself. I’ll take care of the rest—the glam, the guidance, the posing, the tiny adjustments, and the reminder that you were never supposed to know how to do any of this on your own.
